Dr Daria Sokolova, SNSF Postdoctoral Fellow

I started my career as an organic chemist, obtaining my PhD from the University of Basel, where I focused on supramolecular catalysis. I then moved to Oxford to pursue biocatalysis research. With an SNSF Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowship, I develop innovative, sustainable approaches to natural product synthesis by integrating chemo- and biocatalysis, expanding my skills in molecular biology and biochemistry while using my expertise in organic synthesis and catalysis. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and both playing and watching tennis.

I am a current 3rd Year Organic Chemistry DPhil student in the Gouverneur group. I am originally from Glasgow and studied at the University of Edinburgh (integrated MChem) with a year abroad at ETH Zurich. The focus of my work is developing novel methodologies to aid fluorine-18 radiotracer discovery for PET imaging. When I am not in the lab, I am usually playing in an orchestra, baking, or hiking.
