Prof Kylie Vincent, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Associate Head of Department (People).

I studied at the University of Melbourne, Australia, but came to the UK for experimental work at the John Innes Centre in Norwich during my PhD. I then took up a postdoc. position with Prof. Fraser Armstrong in Oxford. I held independent fellowships from the Royal Society and Research Councils UK before being appointed as Lecturer/Associate Professor in Oxford in 2013, and Professor in 2018. My research interests lie in the mechanism of hydrogenases and other metalloenzymes, and hydrogen-driven biotechnology for cleaner chemical manufacturing. Outside of my commitments, I am a full-time single parent to two lovely boys (age 7 & 10) who help me keep a good work-life balance.

I’m Taylah, A 3rd year DPhil Student working with Professor Chris Schofield in Organic Chemistry and Sir Martin Walsh at Diamond Light Source.

My current research involves the study of structural dynamics and inhibition of the Main protease from SARS-CoV-2 and related coronaviruses. To do this, I am using static and time-resolved crystallographic approaches. When I’m not in the lab, I enjoy bouldering and weightlifting. I am also a bassist in a band and enjoy writing music.
